Howard Steele, PhD, è professore di psicologia alla New School for Social Research. Alla New School, il Dr. Steele co-dirige (con la Prof.ssa Miriam Steele) il Center for Attachment Research. Howard Steele è anche editore senior e fondatore della rivista internazionale Attachment and Human Development, e presidente fondatore della Society for Emotion and Attachment Studies.

Sia Howard Steele che Miriam Steele sono tra i premiati Bowlby-Ainsworth 2017 così riconosciuti dal Center for Mental Health Promotion.   H. Steele e M. Steele sono co-editori del libro del 2008, Clinical Applications of the Adult Attachment Interview, e del 2018 Handbook of Attachment-Based Interventions, entrambi pubblicati dalla Guilford Press, New York.  Gli Steele sono membri del Adult Attachment Interview Trainers' Consortium.
